				The Denomination of Origin of the Bierzo wines was granted in 1989 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishery and Food, wines whose quality was fully acknowledged. The production of protected wines is exclusively carried out with AUTHORISED VARIETALS. As the most important, the following stand out: amongst the reds, the MENCIA and amongst the whites, DOÑA BLANCA AND GODELLO.
				The MENCIA varietal is the most important in this Denomination of Origin. It is adapted to warm and somewhat dry areas. Produces excellent red and rosé wines, with a diversity of primary aromas, producing smooth and velvety high quality wines.
